TASTING NOTE

Fresh lemon curd, cut grass and nettle aromas with hints of biscuit and nuts. The palate has a pleasing creamy texture and displays intense lemon and lime citrus fruits with cinnamon spice that are carried to a long finish by a complementary line of natural acidity.

The Mangan vineyard, which is owned and managed by Rick Cullen, is dry farmed and maintained using a biodynamic approach to viticulture. Soils are old, granite and gravely sandy loam, overlaying lateric subsoils. Fruit was picked over three weeks at 10 - 13.8º Baumes, when it had reached the perfect level of freshness, richness and complexity.

2014 was an exceptional year for Margaret River, with good rainfall during the growing season but none at all from January until harvest time. Cool nights and mild days during the ripening period allowed the white grapes to hold their natural acidity while developing flavour. The vintage was a particularly good one for Semillon.

All grapes were dry farmed, hand-harvested and sorted before crushing. 6% of the blend was aged in two year old oak barrels for nine months. The Semillon was fermented entirely in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness.
