Donnafugata Kabir Moscato di Pantelleria 2014

Kabir 2014 is bright straw yellow with golden nuances. The nose offers a fragrant bouquet with fruity notes of peaches and citrus fruit combined with orange blossom and jasmine, accented with thyme nuances. Vibrant on the palate, its fresh acidity and pleasant mineral vein balance the sweetness.

The vines, some of which are up to 100 years old, are trained in an extremely low bush typical of Pantelleria and pruned short. The density of plants is approximately 2,500 vines per hectare on the terraced volcanic terrain. Rich in minerals, the soil is sandy, deep and fertile. Yields are around four tonnes per hectare.

The 2014 vintage was marked by a relatively mild winter and a cool, rainy spring. 488mm of rainfall was recorded over 12 months: a slightly lower figure compared to the average of the last 10 years. July and August passed without excesses of heat and with an excellent diurnal temperature range, resulting in particularly fresh and balanced wines. The harvest of the grapes for the production of Kabir began on the 9th of September. An important harvest, with healthy and perfectly ripe grapes with a rich and very complex aromatic profile.

The grapes were soft-pressed and fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. It remained in stainless steel vats for several months and was aged for at least four months in bottle before release.
