L'Ecole no 41 Seve Hill Vineyard Perigee 2008

Date Reviewed: December 2012
“L’Ecole No 41 is partners with Leonetti Cellar and Pepper Bridge Winery in the Seven Hills Vineyard
near the Oregon/Washington border, planted in 1981. The wines from this mature plot are elegant, earthy
and seductive, lending themselves to Old World treatment and restraint. Earthy mineral marries with rich
black cherry and plum on the nose and with notes of blueberry, toasty cedar and herbs on the palate.” –

“Good red-ruby. Rather bound-up on the nose, with dark fruit aromas complicated by licorice, black pepper,
leather and herbs; just a touch rustic. Offers good mid-palate sweetness and texture but comes across as less
pure than the Apogee, with a leathery element currently dominating the underlying fruit. Finishes with broad,
ripe tannins and hints of menthol and herbs.

Perigee exemplifies this vineyard’s characteristic cedary, black cherry, richly structured elegance. Rich, deep aromas of dark spice, blueberry and silky plum fruit are accented with earthy, graphite minerality, exuding power and grace on a velvety, chalky tannin finish.
