Sedella Mediterranean Mountain Wine 2012

Deep blue with violet hues.  Sedella has a developing nose of liquorice, dried plums and herbs that gives way to medium bodied fruit on the palate with fine, smooth tannins, crisp acidity and a lovely, lingering finish.

The 2.5 hectares of organic vineyards are located on steep (45°) slate slopes at 650 metres above sea level, near the small town of Sedella. Many of the bush vines are over 100 years old. The grapes are harvested manually with the help of ‘draft animals‘ (donkeys), using Roman ploughs. The Mediterranean Sea can be seen to the south from the vineyards and the often snow-capped peak of La Maroma mountain can been seen to the North. The altitude and proximity to the sea gives Sedella wonderful elegance and freshness.

Sedella is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then matured for 16-20 months in a mixture of 225 litre French oak barrels (two year old), cement and 1,050 litre French oak eggs.
